About Us
Nansio News: LA Fitness Insider
Nansio News is not affiliated with LA Fitness, Esporta Fitness, or Fitness International LLC. We are an independent consumer investigation site.
Why We Started
We started Nansio News for one reason: Gym memberships are designed to be easy to join and almost impossible to cancel.
In 2025, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) sued LA Fitness for making cancellation an “unlawful workout” — requiring in-person visits with only one designated employee, limited hours (9 am-5 pm), and forcing members to mail forms via certified mail to PO Box 54170, Irvine, CA.
We were those members. After being charged $49.99 annual fees we never agreed to and spending hours trying to cancel, we decided to document everything LA Fitness doesn’t tell you at sign-up.
What We Do
LA Fitness Insider by Nansio News is our flagship investigation. We track:
- Real Prices: Not the $39.99 ad. The real cost with a $99 initiation, a $49.99 annual fee, $15 guest passes, and $50-$100 personal training.
- Real Ways to Cancel: Step-by-step guides using the FTC ruling, with downloadable certified mail templates and the exact mailing address that works in 2026.
- Real Hours: Actual opening/closing times, busiest hours from Google data, and holiday hours for Labour Day, July 4th, and Christmas — because the official site is often wrong.
- Honest Comparisons: LA Fitness vs 24 Hour Fitness vs Planet Fitness vs Crunch — price, equipment, crowds, and cancellation difficulty.
We buy our own memberships, call clubs, read the fine print in the membership agreements, and file FOIA requests for FTC complaints so you don’t have to.
How We’re Funded
Nansio News is reader-supported. To keep our guides free, we sometimes earn a small commission if you sign up for a gym we recommend through our links (like Crunch Fitness or Anytime Fitness). We never accept payment from LA Fitness to change our coverage. Our reviews are honest — if a gym has a terrible cancellation policy, we say it.
Our cancellation templates, hours guides, and fee breakdowns will always be free.
Our Promise
- We will never tell you to “just cancel online” — because there is no online cancel button.
- We will update our prices and hours monthly — last updated September 2026.
- We will show you proof — tracking numbers, screenshots of agreements, and FTC documents.
